Hi all. Not taken my methotrexate today as i have got a sore throat. It started to niggle on sunday and i have been coughing aswell. I remeber my rheummy saying that if i get sore throat or dry cough i have to stop mtx and see doc. If i breathe in quickly, i cough! I've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow. Will let you know how i go on. Keep warm, dawnybee

Take care, Dawny - very sensible to give the mtx a miss whilst you have a sore throat.

Hi all. Appointment went well. Doctor now says i can have monthly blood test as my GFR rate was a bit dodgy for a while as it was dropping. I only was put on monthly test once and have had to have fortnightly bloods for four months now! I felt like a pin cushion! Anyway, my chest was clear but my throat was imflammed. I'm not sure when i should start taking MTX again, i forgot to ask!! He also gave me antibiotics for query urine infection, but to be honest, that seems to be settling down. I think i was a bit quick off the mark mentioning that as it was only niggling me yesterday and this morning. I mentioned it whilst i was there, because you can never get an appointment!! I will keep my eye on it. I don't want to take more meds if i dont really need them. Thanks for all your advice and replies, its nice to get feed back! see you all, dawnybee p.s. wrapped up warm and its a bit brighter here but snow is still very much here!

Hi DawnyBee Glad that things seem to be improving for you. Guess you can call the docs and check on when to start MTX again.

Ooh I am glad you're a bit perkier. Drives me nuts this report/don't report take/dont take meds malarkey. GP and as of today, rheumy both know i've had a cough and tonsils of fire for 5 and 2 weeks respectively. And after initial bollocking for letting them go on for more than 2 days without GP visit (hello, I have commitments that don't bend to a wee bit of a cough) they then tell me to get on with the meds anyway. So why worry me in the first place then? I've had no xray, or extra bloods or anything done? I am happy to live with it as its the season, my kids are constantly getting stuff etc. Just bored of the whole panic/don't panic Captain Mannering thing. Can anyone give examples of when they actually had a problem that stopping meds helped?
